Friends School Kamusinga Student Dies After Falling into Septic Tank.

A tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon at Friends School Kamusinga, as the community mourned the death of a student who lost his life after falling into a septic tank within the school premises.

The chairperson of the institution’s Board of Management (BOM) confirmed the student’s passing. According to him, the student fell into a septic tank located inside the school.

The chairperson explained that he was informed of the tragedy through a phone call from the school principal, who reported the unfortunate event.

After the student was retrieved from the septic tank, he was immediately taken to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital. From there, he was referred to Life Care Hospital for further treatment. Despite the medical efforts, the student succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

    Board of Management Response

In response to the tragedy, the BOM chairperson convened an executive meeting on the morning of September 16 to address the issue.

Later, officers from the Ministries of Education and Interior visited the school to investigate the circumstances surrounding the student’s death. Law enforcement officials have launched a formal probe into the incident.

The BOM chairperson reported that the executive team and staff met with the students to address the situation, and there was a sense of calm in the school following the incident.

He also mentioned that the board is committed to improving safety and security measures within the school and plans to convene a full Board of Management soon to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.

This incident adds to a series of student deaths reported in the past week. On September 13, a separate tragedy unfolded in Kitui County, where three students and three pupils lost their lives after being hit by a Probox car while attempting to cross a road.

According to a police report, the driver fled the scene but later surrendered at a police station.
