The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Kenya plays a vital role in handling many matters regarding teacher employment such as their recruitment, termination, transfers and promotions. In addition to this, it encompasses primary and secondary school teachers although they are managed differently.

    Primary and Secondary School Teachers

However, for those in the primary schools TSC can deploy at their discretion to any other school that may require their services. Deserts of Kenya are generally characterized by harsh conditions like lack of infrastructure and poor weather something that also affects teachers badly.

    Allowance Structure

The commission has identified specific counties and sub-counties as hardship areas and provides varying allowance amounts based on job groups. To illustrate its seriousness on hardships called hardship area Chief Principals especially those in job group D5 receive the highest among all at Kshs 38,100 which highlights its commitment towards this.
