TSC Deployment Data: Counties with the Highest Teacher Allocations.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has deployed thousands of teachers across Kenya over the past three years, with Kitui County recording the highest allocation after receiving 4,276 teachers.
According to Teachers Service Commission data, Kakamega County received the second-highest allocation with 4,270 teachers, followed by Bungoma County with 3,806. Nakuru County ranked fourth after receiving 3,656 teachers, while Machakos County was allocated 3,356 teachers.
Makueni County received 3,252 teachers, followed by Homa Bay County with 3,225, Kisii County with 3,206, Meru County with 3,204 and Narok County with 2,992, completing the list of the ten counties that received the highest teacher allocations during the period.
Teachers Service Commission Chief Executive Officer Evaleen Mitei stated that the deployment of teachers was guided by several factors, including the number of public schools, learner enrolment, the expansion of Junior Secondary Schools and the magnitude of teacher shortages experienced in individual counties.
The Chief Executive Officer noted that the allocation of a higher number of teachers to a county should not be interpreted to mean that staffing requirements have been fully met. She indicated that teacher deployment remains an ongoing exercise aimed at addressing staffing gaps across the country.
According to the Teachers Service Commission, many counties continue to experience significant teacher shortages arising from increased learner enrolment, the implementation and expansion of the Competency-Based Curriculum through Junior Secondary Schools, and the need to improve the teacher-to-learner ratio in public learning institutions.

The Teachers Service Commission has maintained that teacher deployment is based on staffing needs across counties and remains part of broader efforts to address teacher shortages in public schools.
The Commission indicated that future deployments will continue to be informed by enrolment trends, the distribution of public schools, the expansion of Junior Secondary Schools and existing staffing gaps to enhance equitable teacher distribution nationwide.
