Ruto Orders Speedy Probe into Endarasha Fire Tragedy: Key Probing Issues.

President William Ruto has urged for prompt completion of the probe into the deadly fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy, which killed 21 pupils.

The president urged the Ministries of Education and Interior to ensure compliance with school boarding standards as state agencies stepped up their investigation into the event.

Kenyan electrical specialists are leading the probe, which focuses on whether an illegal electrical connection could have caused the catastrophic fire.

Technicians are checking the school’s power infrastructure to see if an electrical failure sparked the fire.

A major source of worry is whether power distribution from a pole near the school’s main gate was confined to the administration area or extended to the dorms where the students slept.

    Documents for the land

In addition to Kenya Power’s probe, the Ministry of Lands is reviewing the documents for the land that houses the school to rule out any potential land disputes. The team is also analyzing the functionality and safety of the school’s solar and mainline power sources.

Governor Mutahi Kahiga, co-chair of the Hillside Endarasha Academy Emergency Response Committee, revealed plans to reopen the school so that Grade Six students can complete their examinations.

However, many parents are still unwilling to send their children back, with some even opposing the idea of having memorial services at school.

Despite the president’s call for a swift settlement, the school remains a crime scene as authorities continue to investigate. It is uncertain when Hillside Endarasha Academy’s nearly 800 students will resume classes.

“At the moment, the school is still a crime scene, and we shall give the DCI team some time so that when they are able to assess the school, and other development progress will be carried out in terms of the management,” Said Pius Murugu the Acting Central Regional Commissioner.
