Neighbors Share Accounts of Endarasha Hillside Academy Fire Horror.

Endarasha Hillside Academy’s neighbors were among the first responders to the horrific events of Thursday night that claimed the lives of 21 youngsters.

The neighbors recounted the incidents that altered the neighborhood’s history, as well as the terrifying night that left everyone in the neighborhood in disbelief and shock.

Twenty-one boys lost their lives in a fire at the Endarasha Hillside Academy more than 48 hours ago, and the community is still processing those terrible events.

The school’s neighbor, Eric Waweru, remembered the pitch-blackness and silence of the night, punctuated by the sobs of distressed boys.

Unbelievable images confronted him and other neighbors as they raced to the scene in response to the emergency call.

“Screams woke me up,” the man said. “Kufika huko moto ilikuwa imesambaa sana, tulijaribu kuweka maji ikakataa, tukajaribu vijiti ikakataa.”

According to the initial responders, there was too much smoke and flames for them to do much. Most of the young children were between 9 and 13, and the presidential statement says they tried to save as many as possible, but the fire was too strong.

“We attempted to save the students trapped inside; the fire was out of control,” he said.

They watched helplessly as fire destroyed the structure and took the tragic lives of the young people trapped in the dorm’s unexpected death chamber. However, some people were spared.

“Sikuona watu wengi juu ya moto, hao watu wengi walikuwa upande wa juu mahali moto ilikuwa inaelekea,” continued Eric.

The neighbors claim that this occurrence will always be a part of their lives. The cries of the souls lost in the fire forever recall a terrible night in the area’s history.
