Isiolo Girls High School on Fire, Barely a Day After Hillside Endarasha Tragedy.
The fire destroyed property of unknown value following a fire incident at Isiolo Girls High School on Saturday evening.
The Kenya Red Cross Society confirmed the incident and announced the dispatch of a rescue team.
“Isiolo Girls High School in Isiolo County has reported a fire. The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that response teams were alerted.
Preliminary reports state that a number of students were apparently trapped inside the dorm, which is supposed to house Form One students.
Mwalimunews.com was able to collect videos showing a group of residents battling the fire that had completely destroyed the structure alongside the Disaster Management staff from the Isiolo County Government.
A cloud of smoke rose from the school’s premises as some of the students ran to save their belongings.
In the interim, the fire’s primary cause is still unknown. When this report was published, the police had not yet arrived at the scene of the tragedy.
Furthermore, the tragic event that began at 7:30 p.m. has not resulted in any deaths.
A similar fire at the Nyeri County school Hillside Endarasha Academy claimed the lives of twenty-one students on Friday night.
During his Saturday midday press conference, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura revealed a spike in fatalities from 18 to 21 students. Similarly, he confirmed that 139 out of 156 students had registered.

Mwaura added that more information would be released when it was appropriate, and that investigations into the incident were still ongoing.
“On behalf of the Government of Kenya, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones,” Mwaura stated.
“The country is suffering greatly from the loss of so many bright, young Kenyans.
