TSC Orders Vetting of KCSE and KPSEA Centre Managers, Supervisors and Invigilators.
Nancy Macharia, CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), has asked all Sub-county Directors of Education to vet and select center managers, supervisors, and invigilators before the national examinations begin in October.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will begin on October 22 and end on November 22, while the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will start on October 28 and end on November 20.
The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) examinations will take place between October 28 and October 31, 2024.
In a circular dated August 30, Macharia asked the education sub-county directors to comply with the directive and submit relevant details about successful applicants to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) portal by October 11.
KNEC will collect the details of all the center managers, supervisors, and invigilators who will participate in the activity in preparation for administering these examinations and assessments.
“This is to request you to identify, vet, and nominate the center managers, supervisors, and invigilators to be engaged in the administration of these examinations and assessments and deploy them into the CP2 system by 11th October 2024, through the link/URL: http://cp2.knec.ac.ke.”
Macharia also instructed the sub-county education directors to make sure the selection of successful applicants adheres to specific requirements.
She emphasized the importance of hiring teachers who are not only qualified but also employed and registered with TSC. Furthermore, she mandated that supervisors and invigilators be assigned to examination centers where they have no personal interest.
Roles
Center managers will be required to check the supervisors and invigilators assigned to their centers’ details and workstations. They will be expected to take daily attendance; in Stage-Based Pathway schools, teachers will monitor their students. There should be one invigilator for every ten learners.
As with other centers, these invigilators will be required to sign the declaration form. Macharia stated that no supervisors or center managers will be posted to KILEA centers.
One supervisor will be assigned to every two hundred candidates. There will be no supervisors deployed in hosted centers, and only one invigilator will be deployed for every twenty candidates.
“You must assign invigilators to hosted centers based on the number of participants in the examination or assessment center.”
According to Macharia, hosting facilities must have their center managers, who will be responsible for collecting and returning examination materials from the container.

She went on to say that TSC’s CP2 system prevents supervisors and invigilators from being selected and deployed to centers where they have previously worked for two years in a row.
Only supervisors and invigilators who have enrolled in the CP2 system will be deployed to manage the 2024 national examination and evaluations; thus, their claims will be processed. Supervisors and invigilators for the KCSE examination must be secondary school teachers, she stated.
KCSE supervisors will be rotated every week. “The outgoing supervisor must prepare brief handing over notes for the incoming supervisor; Sub-counties that have a challenge with recruitment should write to [email protected] indicating the reason and assistance will be provided.”
