How to Apply for TSC Promotion Vacancies 2026: Step-by-Step Guide.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised promotion vacancies for the 2026/2027 Financial Year, inviting applications from suitably qualified teachers for positions ranging from Chief Principal down to Senior Teacher II.
Two important notices accompany the advertisement:
- Candidates who are successful in the interviews shall be required to present valid Chapter 6 documents before they are appointed.
- Successful candidates will be posted where the vacancies exist.
Application Deadline: Monday, 10th August 2026
Interested and qualified teachers must submit their applications online through the TSC portal to be received no later than Monday, 10th August 2026.
This deadline applies across all 30 advertised positions — from Chief Principal down to Senior Teacher II — regardless of grade or category (Regular, TTC, or SNE).
How to Apply for TSC Promotion (Step-by-Step)
- Visit the TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke.
- Log in to your Teachers Online Services (TOS) account.
- Locate the promotion advert matching your current grade and category (Regular/TTC/SNE).
- Complete all required fields accurately and fully in the online application form.
- Submit your application before the 10th August 2026 deadline.
- Verify that your application was successfully submitted — the Commission acknowledges successful applications electronically.
Manual Applications Will Not Be Considered
TSC has been explicit: “Manual applications shall not be considered.” All applications must go through the prescribed online platform. Circular 13/2026 reinforces this, stating that:
- All promotion vacancies are advertised through the TSC website, mainstream print media, and any other platform the Commission deems appropriate.
- All applications will be submitted online through the designated TSC portal within the specified timeframe — manual submissions shall not be accepted.
- Applicants are advised to ensure all fields in the online application portal are accurately and fully completed, and to verify successful submission of their applications.
- Submission of false information shall result in disqualification and may attract disciplinary action.
Vacancy identification is based on available budgetary allocation, attrition, and existence of vacancies in the approved establishment.
Eligible teachers must have served a minimum of three (3) years in their current grade, and the Commission may withhold promotion consideration under Regulation 77 (disciplinary cases) or require completion of continuous service after re-employment under Regulation 78.
Shortlisting is done at a ratio of 1:3 per advertised vacancy, and interviews are conducted at Sub-County, County, or Regional level depending on the grade.
