TSC Advertises 20,000 Permanent Teaching Jobs for Junior Schools; How to Apply.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the recruitment of 20,000 Post Primary teachers on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) terms to serve in Junior Schools as part of the ongoing implementation of the Competency Based Education (CBE) curriculum.
According to the Commission, the recruitment exercise targets qualified teachers who meet the prescribed academic and professional requirements. Applications will be submitted exclusively through the Commission’s online recruitment portal, with the application window opening on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, and closing at midnight on Monday, 31 August 2026.
The Commission stated that successful applicants will be deployed to Junior Schools to support teaching and learning under the Competency Based Education framework.
Application Process
The Teachers Service Commission has directed all interested and qualified candidates to submit their applications online through either of the following portals:
- www.tsc.go.ke under the “Careers” section.
- teachersonline.tsc.go.ke
The Commission emphasized that manual applications will not be accepted.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for recruitment, applicants must satisfy all the following minimum requirements:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold at least a Diploma in Education.
- Have attained a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (Plus).
- Have scored at least C+ (Plus) in two teaching subjects at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) level or its equivalent.
- Be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
The Commission advised applicants holding equivalent qualifications to verify their eligibility through the Teachers Service Commission website.
Recruitment Guidelines
The Teachers Service Commission stated that recruitment will be conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for Recruitment of Post Primary Teachers for the 2026/2027 Financial Year.
In addition, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Be unemployed.
- Have no record of exiting the Teachers Service Commission on disciplinary grounds.
- Present original academic and professional certificates during the recruitment process.
- Undergo selection strictly on merit based on the number of vacancies available in each county.
- Submit only one application for employment.
The Commission further stated that successful teacher interns will be retained in their current sub-counties and stations.
Successful candidates will be required to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.
