Kenya’s Dual Training Initiative Onboards 3,300 Trainees in 65 TVETs and 1,500 Industries.
Dr. Esther Muoria, Principal Secretary for TVET, has emphasized the critical role of industry-based training in driving Kenya towards the next phase of industrialization.
Speaking at the Industry Liaisons Quarterly Updates and Progress Review Workshop at Safari Park Hotel, Dr. Muoria underscored the importance of fully integrating Dual Training into Kenya’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
The two-day workshop, attended by Industry Liaison Officers (ILOs) from 151 TVET institutions across the country, reviewed the progress of the Dual Training implementation.
Dr. Muoria called on the ILOs to enhance partnerships with local industries, stressing that such collaborations are essential for equipping Kenyan youth with advanced skills necessary for industrial growth.
Currently, over 65 TVET institutions are participating in Dual Training programs, collaborating with more than 1,500 local industries.
The initiative has so far onboarded over 3,300 trainees, a significant milestone in bridging the gap between technical education and real-world industry experience.
Dr. Muoria also acknowledged the support from the German development agency GIZ, which has played a crucial role in the program’s success.
