The County Government of Kericho has announced the recruitment of 210 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers, creating one of the largest employment opportunities for education professionals in the county while addressing staffing shortages in early learning institutions.
The vacancies form the largest category among the 468 positions advertised by the Kericho County Public Service Board, accounting for nearly 45 per cent of all advertised posts. The recruitment is intended to strengthen human resource capacity in ECDE centres across the county amid rising learner enrolment and continued expansion of early childhood education infrastructure.

The recruitment exercise follows sustained growth in ECDE enrolment and increased investment in learning facilities across Kericho County.
According to the County’s approved County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), the teacher-to-pupil ratio currently stands at one teacher for every 38 learners, compared to the recommended ratio of one teacher for every 25 learners, highlighting the need for additional teaching personnel.
County records indicate that ECDE enrolment increased from 36,781 learners in 2017 to 43,368 learners in 2022, following the construction and operationalisation of additional modern ECDE classrooms across the county.
