390 NYS Graduates Shortlisted for Ksh 6.6M Job Opportunities in Australia.
Kenyan youths are expected to travel to Australia for job opportunities, which the government has secured through the National Youth Service (NYS).
The National Youth Service (NYS) said that interviews for 390 youth will begin on September 10 and that once completed, successful candidates will travel abroad for career opportunities as skilled laborers.
The application season for opportunities in Australia closed on September 3, 2024, with a total of 1,370 applications. After finishing the shortlisting process, the Employment Liaison office releases the names of the candidates who have met the employment requirements, along with the interview schedule.
The opportunity is intended to provide work prospects for young people in an effort to reduce the high rate of unemployment that is now causing problems for the government, particularly the thousands of youth who graduate from the paramilitary training program.
NYS had urged graduates to apply for artisan jobs in mechanics, carpentry, and construction, among other skilled trades.
During the announcement in August, NYS announced that those selected will receive around Ksh6.6 million per year from opportunities in Australia.
According to NYS, the candidates would be subjected to a six-month probationary period before being fully confirmed for their positions upon arrival.
Requirements
The interviews will take place in the NYS holding unit in Nairobi, and candidates will be expected to provide copies of their identification cards and certificates.
They will also need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate job experience and skills before being considered for the positions.

‘’Images of work recommendation letters from your past employers will be highly needed. Candidates will be required to be at the interview venue at 8 a.m.,” NYS added in the statement.
390 individuals from various regions of the country will be interviewed for the positions on September 10, 2024, in Nairobi.
The administration stated in July that it had secured over 300,000 jobs for young people abroad through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
