Fourth School Fire Erupts at Ortum Boys After Endarasha Tragedy.
On Monday, a fire broke out at Ortum Boys High School, adding to a week of disasters in educational institutions.
Videos circulating online show students clad in black trousers and gray sweaters escaping the intense smoke rising from their dormitories.
During the turmoil, some students were spotted attempting to save their mattresses and other items.
The fire, which began about 9:00 a.m., soon devoured one of the main dormitories and spread to others, creating alarm in the school community.
There has been no official report from the school or the police regarding the cause of the fire or whether there were any casualties.
Local authorities are looking into the cause of the fire. Preliminary investigations indicate that it may have started owing to an electrical breakdown, but a thorough examination is underway.

This event at Ortum Boys High School is part of a troubling trend, since fires have been recorded at several other schools across the country in the last week. On Thursday, a fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy killed 21 pupils.
A day later, students were injured at Isiolo Girls High School, while another fire destroyed a dormitory and Njia Boys High School.
As a result, school authorities are pushing for rigorous inspections and improved safety practices to avoid such tragedies.
Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi recommended on Monday the abolition of primary boarding schools in the country to avoid catastrophes like the one at Hillside Endarasha Academy.
“No primary school should be a boarding institution. “Let parents care for their children until they reach high school,” Elachi said.

Parents and guardians have also expressed worries about their children’s safety, pressing schools to improve their emergency response plans and infrastructure.
The Ministry of Education has announced measures to evaluate safety standards in all schools in an effort to adequately address these issues.
As the community recovers from the shock, efforts are ongoing to provide interim housing and counseling assistance to students displaced by the fire.
