PSC Announces New Internship Recruitment for Degree Holders; Full Details.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the recruitment of interns under Cohort 9 of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) for the 2026/2027 Financial Year. The recruitment is aimed at providing recent university graduates with an opportunity to gain practical work experience in the public service while enhancing their employability, professional networks, and entrepreneurship skills.
According to the Commission, the year-long internship programme will involve placement of successful applicants in Government Ministries, Departments, State Agencies, State Corporations, and Public Universities across the country.
The Public Service Commission stated that the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a Government youth empowerment initiative established to provide college graduates with hands-on experience and facilitate skills development required for the labour market.
Eligibility Requirements
The Commission indicated that applicants must meet all of the following requirements to qualify for appointment:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Have graduated not earlier than the year 2020.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills.
- Have not previously benefited from a similar internship programme.
Internship Duties and Responsibilities
According to the Public Service Commission, successful interns will undertake various responsibilities during the programme, including:
- Completing duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by supervisors.
- Documenting relevant skills acquired in their respective areas of deployment.
- Actively participating in mentorship activities and any additional responsibilities designed under the internship programme.
Duration of the Internship
The internship programme will run for a period of twelve (12) months.
The Commission stated that the internship is non-renewable.
Stipend
The Public Service Commission revealed that interns will receive a Government stipend at a rate determined by the Government.
The Commission did not specify the amount payable in the recruitment notice.
Certificate Upon Completion
The Commission added that interns who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an Internship Certificate.
