On Friday morning, a tragic road accident occurred at Witoo Shopping Centre along the Kitui-Kibwezi road in Kitui County, resulting in the deaths of at least six students.

The police confirmed that the deceased included three primary school pupils and three secondary school students from a nearby institution. These students were fatally injured when a Probox car hit them as they attempted to cross the road.

After realizing the severity of the incident, the driver fled the scene but later turned himself in at the local police station. Law enforcement officers arrested him, and the vehicle involved was impounded and taken to the station for further investigation.
