Hillside Endarasha Academy Fire: 19 Dead Bodies Still Unidentified, All Pupils Accounted For.

On Monday, government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura stated that the families of 19 boys who died in Friday’s Hillside Endarasha Academy fire in Nyeri County have yet to identify their children.

A fire broke out at a private primary school in Kieni, killing twenty-one students. Mwaura said two of the boys died while being treated in the hospital, while the bodies of 19 others were discovered in the burned dormitory.

All 330 students in the school’s board facility, comprising 166 girls and 164 boys, have safely made their way back to their parents. “However, the parents of the 19 deceased boys have not yet identified their children,” Mwaura said in a statement.

He mentioned that Naromoru Level 4 Hospital is performing autopsies to aid in identification.

“During this process, the families will also receive mental health and psychosocial support,” the government spokeswoman stated.

Mwaura stated that the Ministry of Health is providing critical medical supplies and coordinating blood donation and counseling services in Nyeri, with assistance from the World Health Organization and the Kenya Red Cross, among others.

The government has promised to bring anybody found responsible for the weekend’s school fires to justice. On Saturday night, a fire broke out at Isiolo Girls High School, resulting in three minor injuries.

A fire broke out in one of the dormitories at Bukhalarire Secondary School in Busia County, but no injuries were recorded.

The government says it has deployed all necessary agencies and is working hard to conduct thorough investigations, despite not yet knowing the cause of the fires.
