Sources on the scene verified that emergency services responded quickly and were attempting to extinguish the fire.

Njia Boys Boarding Secondary School is a public extra-county boys’ institution in Maua, Meru County.

There were no fatalities or injuries reported at the time this item was published. The source of the fire was yet to be determined.

This was not the first time a fire had been reported at the institution. In 2019, an inferno broke out, leaving one student burned beyond recognition.

The victim’s death was discovered a day later after the school’s administration conducted a roll call.

This comes only a day after a fire broke out at Isiolo Girls High School and Hillside Endarasha Academy, killing 21 students.

The succession of fires during the third term of the school year causes anxiety and concern.

It comes as Education PS Belio Kipsang, on Wednesday, September 4, directed that the restriction on school activities and visits be strictly implemented.

It’s unclear whether the prohibition is related to the recent school fires.
