KUPPET Teachers Demand Resignation of Officials Over Neglect of JSS Interns and Fund Mismanagement.

A group of teachers from Meru County, affiliated with the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), have voiced their discontent regarding their union officials at both the county and national levels.

Speaking in Meru town, they expressed frustration over issues such as stalled promotions and the misuse of benevolent funds by union leaders.

‘We want to declare that we have no confidence in the current KUPPET leadership. They have let us down and what we demand is immediate resignation because they are not serving the interest of teachers,” said Amos Mwiti during a press briefing.

The teachers stated that they had lost confidence in the leadership of the County Executive Team (CET). They accused the officials of failing to address their concerns.

    Failure to Support JSS Teachers

According to the teachers, the KUPPET leadership abandoned Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers during a critical time. “When JSS teachers went on strike, the union officials neglected to provide support.”

Instead, the KUPPET leaders only appeared on a Saturday evening during a public holiday to declare the strike over, undermining the efforts and aspirations of the JSS teachers.

The teachers demanded the immediate resignation of the current officials, claiming that the leadership was no longer serving the interests of its members.

They emphasized that without accountability, the union could not effectively advocate for the welfare of teachers in the region.
